FRANCIS D. ALAURIN
President, BUHS Alumni Class ‘78
My Dear Classmates,
Twenty five years ago today, we left this hollowed grounds of the Bicol University High School in pursuit, not only of our personal dreams, but more so of our own identity as proud alumni of this institution.
Today, we meet once again as we celebrate our Silver Alumni Homecoming, nurtured with the lessons of the past, the wisdom that went with them, and the identity that made us truly distinct, young leaders of the Bicol Region. As a fitting tribute and thanksgiving, we pay homage to our Alma Mater from which we owe the many things that made us into what we are now.
As your outgoing Alumni President, I pray that the FRIENDSHIP, CAMARADERIE and UNITY we once knew will continue to be our sacred bond. May the same values carry us through to the future. Let us all work side by side, share the load together, and be perpetually guided by the fundamental maxim: “Together we shall stand, divided we shall fall”.
Our term as your alumni officers, has been inadvertently, transitionary. We have accounted for our members and brought them to the awareness on the necessity of collective involvement and unrelenting commitment to class interests. We still have to raise funds and reach out to the less-fortunate members of the class. Through the gallery of old pictures unfolding before us, we intend to preserve our memories and the documentary evidences of our enduring, yet glorious past. We shall be collecting more of these from you as we have to look for a more permanent place to keep them.
I know that the best years are still ahead of us. As we transfer the cudgel of leadership today to the next set of officers, I request, if not demand, full support and cooperation from all of us. Our class officers need us if we have to champion our future which we shall be drafting in the coming days. We remain to be the best class in high school because we make it great.
Hail to the Bicol University High School! Hail to the BUHS Class 1978!
May God bless us all!
